How do I clear the stored cache in my Jabber client?

Mac

Delete cache

Deleting the cache may assist in a multitude of issues experienced with the Mac Client. In some cases, if multiple users log on to the same Jabber client, the cache may become corrupt and affect configuration settings.

This solution will clear local cached information in the client, which will hold things such as recent contact lookups. Issues such as playing Voicemail through Jabber (no audio) and clearing old contacts that no longer exist can be resolved by following this procedure.

1. Jabber menu > Empty Cache

2. A warning window will be produced, alerting you to the information to be cleared from cache. Click Empty to proceed.

3. This event will log the user off of Jabber and exit the application.

Reset Jabber

Another step you could take is to reset Jabber for Mac settings back to default, which will require a reconfiguration of the Jabber client. This action will reset existing account settings and preferences from the Jabber client. This may be needed if a user is having issues signing on for the first time and needs to verify that Jabber is configured properly.

1. Jabber menu > Reset Jabber

2. A warning window will be produced alerting you to the information that will be reset in the client. Click Reset to proceed.

3. This event will log the user off of Jabber and exit the application.

4. When you launch Jabber again, you will need to setup the options again. Please seehttp://bbcrm.edusupportcenter.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=8210&task=knowledge&questionID=9337.

NOTE: You will not need to download the Jabber for Mac software as noted in Step 1.

Windows

This will clear the locally cached settings for Jabber, including saved preferences, profiles, and other cached information. This can be helpful if multiple people use Jabber on the same computer or one user logs on to Jabber from multiple machines.

Close and exit out of Jabber (if still running)
Clear the Local Jabber cache. This data is found in the following two directories:

                       Win 7:
                       %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber
                       %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber

                       Win XP:
                       %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber
